Cláudia is a carioca (from Rio de Janeiro) singer, who began her carreer when was 9 years old in a program
for beginner singers in the Radio Sociedade station, from Juiz de Fora city. At the age of 13 she was crooner
of the Meia Noite group, that played at parties and balls in the area.
In the 60’s went to Sao Paulo, where she developed her carreer. In the beginning, participating on the tv show
“O Fino da Bossa” (hosted by Elis Regina & Jair Rodrigues). In 1969 won the 1st Fluminense Song Festival
singing the song “Razao de paz para nao cantar”. She sang at several international song festivals,
including Japan, Greece, Mexico and Venezuela, where won many prizes.
She had many hits, like “Jesus Cristo” (Roberto Carlos) e “Mais de 30” (Marcos & Paulo Sergio Valle).
The most important moment in her carreer was in 1983, when she was the star of the musical “Evita”, staying
more than 2 years in theaters from Sao Paulo and Rio de Janeiro. After Evita, she kept on singing in night clubs
and taking participation in shows and recording sessions.
She has more than 20 albums released.
Claudia, Cláudia, Claudya, Claudya de Oliveira or Maria das Gracas de Oliveira Rallo is a wonderful Brazilian singer/songwriter. One of the most powerful voices I have ever heard.

Her best record in my opinion is 1977 - Reza, Tambor e Raça. Infortunately, this was never re-released in CD as it got some bad reviews in Brazil. Nonetheless this is a very good record where Claudia is at her best. I can only guess that the Brazilian reviews of the time were a reflection of a closed-mind establishment plus the inability of Brazilian commentators to appreciate something different and a jazzy/funky sound in the mid-70s. I found "Reza, Tambor e Raça" in Chile in the 1980s and I play it regularly, along with some masterpieces by Sarah Vaughan and other great singers.
I have seen a few Claudia records in London Berwick street.
Saludos,
Sebastian
